I wouldn’t worry about Ken/Kentaro still looking a bit too feminine actually since styles progress as you keep on drawing. Also Gantz main character was totally girly boy in the beginning of the series too. Also I think that the main thing that is making Kentaro way too girly is the eyes and probably the lips. Also make the facial features less softer I guess. Overall I think the character designs are going well.
By the I’m Natsumi, we met a week ago just so we don’t have later confusions on who the hell I am.

I like how you designed Makato. The character image does show what you said about the sporty kind. I think maybe adjust her front hairstyle a bit more, but besides that I really have nothing to say (it might be that I dont know the character well).

For Ken/Kentaro, I guess it’s a work in progress. One thing I was once told is that a main character should be recognized by it’s silhouette.

For the blazer uniform, I can’t say much about it since it is a work in progress, but I did recommend some manga to use as reference. I think it’s an improvement, but I think for more “fashionable” sense (not realistic), uniform could be more slim-fit.

Nowadays, I think the most common pattern is blazer-styled uniform, rather than sailor uniform on this draft.

If you’re trying to look for the more “modern” or “realistic” uniforms, I think looking into present-day school-life manga, such as Yankee-kun to Megane-chan, Ao no Exorcist, Beezlebub, and etc.

If you want a more a bit of imagination put into the uniform, Angel Beats or Clannad could be used as reference. Most of these unique are from light novel illustration or visual novels.

Yeah, we’re still working on a good school uniform look. I know I can’t settle on anything, mind giving some good examples that we can draw inspiration from nakura?

Interesting design. It gives a feel of “older” classmate type character. In my opinion (and possibly this is because it is in draft stage), I wish there was more “original” or modern school uniform design.

I probably shouldve mentioned this before, but see if you can retain a child-like feeling to her, almost like she was sheltered for so many years. Well now that i think about it she probably was…lol

I am glad that I was able to help in any sort of way.

UNIQLO will probably provided are the “general” fashion that will cover the typical clothing for casual wear. Parco-City has different brands to choose from so I think that site will give you variety depending of the type of fashion you seek (I don’t think Gothic were covered though…) Both of the site will also cover accessories for an extra bonus.

I hope these sites will help you in some shape, way, form, or method.

Hey, thanks for the advice. I’ll definitely look into fashion some more. I’ll probably take more inspiration from what you’ve shown me, though I’m not exactly sure we’re going for a purely Japanese aesthetic.

The art is good and the character does portray the personality I have read. However, I felt the clothing should have been more stylish. I can’t say for sure how much a female would dress themselves up, but I think it would be safe to say that at least some fashion sense wouldn’t hurt.

It’s not that I am saying your characters or drawing lacks taste, but I was thinking if this based on Japanese cutlure, or similar, DEFINITELY there would be some unique clothing style different from America (they have really flashy clothing). At most, you can check out sites such as http://www.uniqlo.com/jp/ or http://www.parco-city.com to check for general fashion to apply to your characters.
